Dawn Hall - Biography

Dawn HallDawn Hall works from her home studio in Walton on the Naze. Having previously been involved in the running of two galleries in Frinton on Sea she now concentrates on her painting full time.

For over twenty years Dawn has enjoyed teaching aspiring artists at Adult Colleges both locally and in London. The fact that she is self taught has convinced her that anyone with the right enthusiasm and attitude can go on to develop a lifetime of discovery and achievement.

“It’s not always natural born talent; it’s the mind that looks closer with the desire to analyze and interpret, and the temperament to be happy with the mistakes that will succeed!”

This belief has set many students on the creative path, some now on the exhibition circuit.

Previous commissions for Royal Mail have been displayed in the Dept of Trade and one piece was presented to the Prime Minister. Sales at Lloyds of London’s yearly Exhibition took her to the city but she much prefers being part of the local art community on the East Coast. Her previous cityscapes were commercially successful and she also gained some success in an international competition with a flower study of her favourite blue irises, however she now gains most of her inspiration from the beaches and skies of East Anglia.

Most recently her work appeared on Anglia TV’s Coastal Inspirations with Paul Gogarty. Especially noted were her limited edition prints of the local area.

Dawn also has a love of interior design and recognizes the difference between a striking decorative statement and a piece of 'stand alone' fine art.

“The design pieces need to evoke a reaction to the room: the fine art a captured emotion to a landscape/object. I have a wonderful time with both even though some find it strange that I also do that modern stuff !”
